We spent a few very quiet days at Hideout, in East Bali. The bamboo houses sit so naturally in the jungle that the river, birds and open air become part of the stay.

There are fourteen hand-built bamboo houses, each completely different, with private spaces made for slowing down: a pool, hot bath or jacuzzi depending on the house. Everything feels intimate and far from Bali's busiest areas.

Tirta Gangga is around 25 minutes away and Amed is less than an hour, but honestly this is one of those places where staying in feels just as good as going out.
